ACADEMIA DEL CAFFÉ:
where Philadelphia studies the fine art
of authentic Italian espresso

Founded in 2004 by Massimo Taurisano, a native of Trieste, Academia is a growing family of boutique coffee bars and cafes throughout Philadelphia dedicated to creating an atmosphere that is autentica - a relaxed Italiancafé serving a superior espresso with fine pastries and light meals to complement the coffee.

While most Philadelphians drink industrial-brand espressos (you know the ones…!), Academia del Caffé is proud to serve Miscela d’Oro – an artisan Sicilian espresso made by the Urbano family of Messina since 1946.

Miscela d'Oro's beautifully balanced espresso brings all the richness and drama of Sicilian cuisine into a perfectly rounded, robust shot topped with a gorgeous "crema" crown for sweetness.

Not widely available in the United States, Miscela d'Oro is a connoisseur's choice espresso and Academia del Caffé is proud to bring this special espresso experience to Philadelphia.

Full Service Beverage Bar

Academia del Caffé baristas serve up Italian classics like espresso shots and favorite espresso drinks like cappuccino, latte and macchiato, as well as iced coffee drinks. In addition, the Academia offers a wide variety of teas and smoothies.

Anecdote:

One afternoon, the doorbell rang in Peter Sellers's London flat.

As Sellers was busy in his study, his wife Anne went to the door, where she was handed a telegram. The message? "Bring me a cup of coffee. Peter."
